The Drugs Are Working is a blog created to share live recordings from bands that I taped from 2002 through 2006 in Dallas/Ft Worth/Denton, Texas area. Also, I'm back from the break so look for the new stuff.

To date I have recorded 166 performances. I will post those shows that I recorded in absolutely no obvious order.

I don't care if you repost my work onto other boards but at least give me credit on your post and direct the link here to download the show. Help spread the word.

Let me know if you find any dead links and I'll repost it.

Black Tie Dynasty live in Dallas TX - March 22, 2006 - CPR-160

I'm posting this to fulfill a request. I did not think I had this one transferred yet, but it turned out I did. It was hidden in a drawer that I just cleaned out.

Black Tie Dynasty are a local Ft Worth band that I've seen a couple of times. They have that new wave/post punk style to them. You could group them into the Cure/Depeche Mode genre, but don't tell them that. They like the Ultravox/Church comparison better (source: myspace).

I don't really remember much about this show. It was a more than two years ago and I didn't really go to see them. They are a good local band if you are into this style of music. It's not something I'm personally into, but I can see why the kids like it. If you like The Bravery or the Editors this is probably for you.

Look for a recording of the excellent headlining band that played this night...I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness to be up'ed next.

Enjoy the show.

Good Records 8th B-Day bash

I received this in my email the other day. It appears that the EXCELLENT local record store Good Records is having it's 8th birthday with a bunch of local bands, including The Black Angels. Here is the email in it's entirety:

Good Records celebrated its 8th birthday on February 7, 2008. We decided to wait on the festivities to coincide with the 1st ever Record Store Day on April 19, 2008.

Record Store Day is a national movement to bring awareness of the awesome cultural emporiums still spreading the love of music in their local communities and changing lives, one customer at a time.

An eclectic line up of free instore performances has been assembled to entertain and delight your ears. Boasting over 21 bands from labels such as Sub Pop, Kill Rock Stars, Bella Union, Light In the Attic, etc. with locales ranging from Austin, Oklahoma City, Denton, Fort Worth and Dallas this will be one for the books. This will be the biggest event in the history of Good Records.

There will be complimentary food and beverages throughout the day. Hot dogs and hamburgers for both the vegetarian and carnivorous type.

There will also be limited edition shirts and other special goodies specifically created for the event by labels such as Matador, Sub Pop, Touch & Go, Warner Brothers, Sony, Universal, etc...

Armhole will be making their famous t-shirt bar mobile and branding anything you bring with the Good Records logo and other transfers.

Universal Music Distribution will be making buttons of your favorite images so make sure to bring a clipping of your favorite New Kid On The Block.

There will be a parking lot sale with CD's as low as a $1. Gracious heaping goodie bags will be given away with any purchase. There will also be a raffle for some very special memorabilia throughout the day. Make sure to ask for a raffle ticket at the counter.

Please join us in celebrating our journey that is Good Records...what a long strange trip it's been.
